Human language is the most important evolutionary leap on the path from great ape to human. The book discusses selected topics relating to the "history of humankind" and linguistic development. Information from scientific sources has been taken into account as up to date as possible and prepared in such a way that it is understandable for readers interested in human history and language. The thematic discussions are complemented by colour illustrations of works of art. While the text offers the reader an interpretation of the book's central theme, the works of art open up a space in which the same theme can be interpreted individually.
