Disposal of electrical equipment and batteries

Electrical equipment and batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. They contain substances that must be collected and recycled separately. For this reason, you will find the symbol of a crossed-out wheelie bin on the devices and batteries.

What the symbol means

The crossed-out wheelie bin symbol means that the device or battery must be disposed of separately from unsorted municipal waste at the end of its life. Chemical symbols for hazardous substances contained may appear below the symbol: Pb for lead, Cd for cadmium, Hg for mercury.

Where you can return waste batteries

As a distributor of batteries, we are obliged to take back waste batteries. You can send us waste batteries of the type we stock free of charge. You can also hand them in at municipal collection points or at retailers that stock the corresponding batteries.

Where you can return waste equipment

For waste electrical equipment, you can use the municipal collection points and recycling centres of your local authority, as well as larger electrical retailers and mail-order retailers that are obliged to take back such equipment. We are not subject to a statutory take-back obligation because our storage and shipping area for electrical equipment is less than 400 square metres (§ 17 ElektroG – German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act). Nevertheless, we voluntarily take back waste equipment that you purchased from us.

Returns are free of charge for you. For lithium batteries and rechargeable batteries, please tape over the terminals to prevent short circuits.

Personal data

If waste equipment contains personal data, you are yourself responsible for deleting it before returning the device.
