The small, thin rubber bands known as elastics are used in myofunctional therapy and swallowing therapy according to the Garliner concept. They are placed, for example, on the tip of the tongue, the edges of the tongue or the back of the tongue. Placing them in this way serves to make tongue posture and tongue movement perceptible and controllable. For example, after the tongue exercises have been carried out, the bands should still be in their original position on the tongue.
